Thinking

Thought is the mental process that forms associations and models. Thinking is manipulating information, forming concepts, engaging in problem solving, reasoning and making decisions. Thought is the act of thinking and the act or process of producing thoughts. Collecting facts, in itself, will not solve a problem. Facts are indispensable; however, they alone are not sufficient. To solve a problem it is necessary to think. It is necessary to think even to decide what facts to collect. Analytic Analytic thinking involves understanding a system by thinking about its parts and how they work together to produce larger-scale effects. Holistic Holistic thinking involves understanding a system by sensing its large-scale patterns and reacting to them.
